BOARD OF DIRECTORS ACCORD's Board of Directors is a governing board made up of community volunteers. This means the board has ultimate control over the operation of the agency through hiring and supervision of the Executive Director. The board also is responsible for long range and strategic planning for ACCORD. These activities assure the agency's operation is consistent with the mission and encourages the delivery of services to the community. Membership on the board of directors is based on individuals volunteering or being nominated for membership. The board membership includes between 7 and 15 elected members. The board wishes to be as diverse as possible in its composition. Members are actively being sought that reflect the ethnic and racial diversity of our community. Membership routinely include: businesspersons, accountants, corporate representatives, attorneys, medical personnel, community representatives, mangers, mediators, CASA volunteers, etc. The board meets at 8:00 AM, the 2nd Thursday of the month at the ACCORD offices. ACCORD's Board of Directors is a working board. Each member is expected to serve on an active committee such as finance, nominating, fund raising, or marketing as well as attend board meetings. Most committees do not meet every month through out the year, but do convene, as needed, around special work projects. The term of board members is three years with a maximum of two complete terms. There is no required financial contribution for membership though board members are encouraged to participate, to the extent possible, in the agency's annual campaign. The Board is seeking individuals who are interested and concerned with the peaceful resolution of conflict in our community and willing to devote their time, energy, and talents to guiding and directing this active agency in achieving its mission. Please feel free to contact the ACCORD office if there are any questions or if you are interested in submitting your name for nomination for board membership. |
