CASA VOLUNTEER APPLICATION AND TRAINING PROCESS

All prospective volunteers must successfully complete an application process, which includes:

    1. A completed and signed written application
    2. Three unrelated character references
    3. Passing background and State Central Registry of Child Abuse and Maltreatment checks
    4. A personal interview
    5. Forty hours of training
    6. Nine hours of court observation. (Three hours in each judges court room.)

Once the application and training process is complete, the CASA volunteer will be sworn in by a Family Court Judge. Acceptance or continuance as a volunteer is at the discretion of the ACCORD Executive Director and the CASA Program Director.
