SPECIALIZED COMMUNITY TRAININGS

In addition to ACCORD's initial and advanced Community and Family Mediation Training programs, ACCORD offers a variety of specialized trainings. As part of our outreach and service to the community, an overview of any of these programs or other ACCORD mediation programs can be offered to community agencies or other groups at no charge. In addition, in depth trainings for large groups are available on a fee for service basis. Please contact ACCORD to discuss how ACCORD may assist your school, church, organization or company. Special rates are available for schools and non-profit agencies.

Below is a list of frequently requested ACCORD trainings.

~ Peer Mediation Training - for Schools: This program consists of training for both the planning and implementation phases of a comprehensive school-wide Peer Mediation Program. The ACCORD training consists of 15-hours of training for approximately 20 staff and students. The training is usually conducted as a series of weekly trainings. In the Peer Mediation Program, trained students mediate student/student conflicts that occur in the school. It is expected that the Peer Mediation Program will continue in the school with the school staff as supervisors and coordinators of program.

~ Conflict Resolution Skills and Communication Techniques Training: This interactive and dynamic training teaches individuals problem solving skills, active listening skills and communication types and styles. This training may be an overview to introduce the concept that there are a variety of ways to communicate or may be a skill-training program to assist the trainees in developing a variety of methods of interacting with different individuals. These trainings can be presented for youth or adult groups.

~ Workplace Dispute Resolution: Workplace trainings can include topics such as Managerial Communication, Co-worker Conflict Resolution, Supervisory Communications, Causes of Conflict, and Conflict Management Techniques. Mediator training can also be provided for corporate staff. In addition, mediation services provided by ACCORD's trained mediators are also available to help resolve workplace conflicts.
